RULES UPDATED August 2024
THE IAN PEGGS CHAMPIONS TROPHY WILL BE A SINGLES COMPETITION.
EACH OFFICIAL ENTRY WILL BE BY EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE INVITATION ONLY
.
A TOTAL OF 32 PLAYERS ONLY, WILL RECEIVE AN INVITATION OF WHICH 16 OF THE 32 WILL BE SEEDED, AND
SEPERATED IN THE DRAW AS THE CHALLENGERS IN EACH ONE OF THE 16 MATCHES CONTAINED IN
THE FIRST ROUND.
THE REMAINING 16 UNSEEDED PLAYERS WILL BE DRAWN AS OPPONENTS FOR THE SEEDED PLAYERS
IN THE FIRST ROUND.
AFTER THE FIRST ROUND A STRAIGHT DRAW WILL APPLY.
THE HOME PLAYER IN EACH DRAW WILL BE THE CHALLENGER.
MATCHES WILL BE PLAYED AT THE HOME VENUE OF THE CHALLENGER INCLUDING SEMI-FINALS.
A MATCH VENUE MAY BE CHANGED ONLY BY MUTUAL CONSENT OF BOTH PLAYERS.
THE HOME PLAYER IN EACH DRAW WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING A "MARKER".
EACH PLAYER WILL PLAY WITH 4 BOWLS EACH.
ALL MATCHES (INCLUDING FINAL) WILL CONSIST OF A "BEST OF 3 SETS FORMAT.
EACH SET WILL CONSIST OF 7 ENDS AND
THE FINAL WILL BE 9 ENDS PER SET.
A POINTS SYSTEM WILL BE APPLIED TO EACH OF THE 3 SETS.
A SET WIN = 1 POINT AWARDED TO THE WINNER.
A SET TIED = 1/2 POINT AWARDED TO EACH PLAYER.
IF THE POINTS ARE LEVEL AFTER 7 ENDS OF THE 3RD SET, A 3 END TIE BREAK WILL BE APPLIED.
THE CHOICE TO BOWL 1ST OR 2ND AT THE START OF THE TIE BREAK WILL BE DECIDED BY THE TOSS
OF A COIN.
THE PLAYER TO PLAY 1ST WILL CAST THE JACK ON THE 1ST END OF THE TIE BREAK.
IN A TIE BREAK SITUATION THE ONLY SCORING BOWL WILL BE THE "SHOT BOWL"
AT THE
COMPLETION OF THE END, AND WILL COUNT / SCORE 1 "SHOT".
THE PLAYER WITH THE MOST "SHOTS" AT THE COMPLETION OF THE TIE BREAK WILL BE DECLARED
THE WINNER OF THE MATCH.
A PLAYER MAY CONCEDE A SET AT ANY TIME.
NOTICE OF HIS DECISION MUST BE GIVEN IMMEDIATELY TO HIS OPPONENT, WHO MUST ACCEPT.
ONCE A SET IS CONCEDED AND ACCEPTED THERE WILL BE NO FURTHER PLAY IN THAT SET.
A "BURNT END" MUST BE REPLAYED.
THE PLAYER THAT BOWLED FIRST AT THE BEGINNING OF THAT END WILL BOWL FIRST ON THE
REPLAYED END.
THE REPLAYED END WILL BE PLAYED IN THE SAME DIRECTION.
A "TIED END" WILL COUNT AS AN END PLAYED UNLESS IT IS THE 3RD END OF A TIE BREAK AND
SCORES ARE LEVEL.
IN THIS EVENT ANOTHER OR FURTHER ENDS WILL BE PLAYED UNTIL A RESULT CAN BE ACHIEVED.
THE MATCH RESULT MUST BE REPORTED TO THE COMPETITION SECRETARY ON THE DAY OF THE
MATCH TAKING PLACE.
CONFIRMATION OF THE RESULT WITH SCORECARDS MUST FOLLOW IMMEDIATELY BY 1ST CLASS
POST, HAND DELIVERY OR EMAIL.
ALL SCORECARDS MUST BE SIGNED BY BOTH PLAYERS.
REFERENCE SHOULD BE MADE TO COMPETITION SHEETS FOR SPECIFIC ROUND DATES.
EACH ENTRY SHALL HAVE THE OPTION OF PLAYING A MATCH (EXCLUDING THE FINAL), PREVIOUS TO
A SPECIFIC ROUND DATE BY MUTUAL CONSENT OF BOTH PLAYERS. (RULES 12 & 13 STILL APPLY).
BOTH SEMI FINALS WILL BE PLAYED ON THE SAME GREEN WHICH SHALL BE NEUTRAL WITH GROUP
NINE OFFICERS OFFICIATING.
THE FINAL OF THE COMPETITION WILL BE PLAYED AT THE VENUE OF THE GROUP NINE FINALS.
IN THE EVENT OF ANY DISPUTE OR MATTERS ARISING FROM THESE COMPETITION RULES, THE
DECISION OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE AND COMPETITION SECRETARY SHALL BE FINAL.
